The Religion of…
September 18th, 2006
Today in Turlington (the central plaza of UF), there was a table for the group supporting Israel. Right next to this, there was the table for Nakbar ‘48 (is that right? I think so…), and a guy with a sign saying “Islam != (doesn’t equal) Judaism”, “democracy != racism”, etc. — suggesting that Israel doesn’t have the right to be all-Jewish. No one really discussed anything, though. Those who supported one side talked to them, and those who supported the other talked to the other.
The aforementioned problems in Europe/Asia are escalating. A nun was murdered by two Muslims in response to the Pope’s comment, and Hot Air (whose videos I seem to be posting more and more frequently here) compiled some clips (and some rather opinionated editorial) about the situation.
Does anyone have anything to add? Was what the pope said really horrible? Is this a decent response? Is this just a group of wackjobs giving everyone else a bad name?
